Integrative medicine combines so called evidence-based conventional medicine with selected complementary approaches in a structured and pragmatic way.
In acute or severe conditions, conventional medicine can provide stabilisation and symptom control. This creates the necessary time and clinical stability to introduce complementary and longer-term therapeutic strategies.
The aim is to use each approach where it is most appropriate and is particularly useful when short-term control and long-term treatment strategies need to be combined.
