This means that it is not only used in Ayurveda, but also in numerous other traditional systems, e.g., in a modified form also in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It assumes that both animate and inanimate nature are composed of these five elements in different <strong>compositions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-larger-font-size\">\n<li>Ether (\u0101k\u0101\u015ba)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Air (v\u0101yu)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fire (agni or teja)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water (jala)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Earth (p\u1e5bthiv\u012b)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In the descriptions of the Vedas, everything has its beginning in the ether. From it, the next elements are formed. The essential characteristics of all things perceptible to humans are determined by the prevailing element.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ether\"><strong>Ether<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The ether is responsible as an element for the space in which everything can arise. It is at the same time beginning and end, i.e., the limit for everything material. In the human body, all hollow organs and conduction pathways are predominantly shaped by the element ether.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"air\"><strong>Air<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The element of air represents the life energy (pr\u0101na) and is responsible for movement and change.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fire\"><strong>Fire<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The element of fire stands for transformation and warmth, but also for intensity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"water\"><strong>Water<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The element water provides movement and moisture (kleda). In its pure form, the following characteristics are added to it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-larger-font-size\">\n<li>fluent (liquid)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>humid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>clear<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"earth\"><strong>Earth<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>element of the earth<\/strong> symbolizes the coarseness and solid substances within the body.
